Botox & Wrinkle Reduction FAQs

Wrinkle reduction is becoming an increasingly popular treatment worldwide and also as part of everyday life here in the UK. They can be used to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles such as Crow’s feet, Frown lines and Forehead lines.

What is wrinkle reduction?

It is a simple treatment that can dramatically soften facial expression lines and wrinkles leaving you looking younger and more refreshed.

What does it do?

A very small amount of a purified protein is injected into specific locations on the face to temporarily relax the tiny muscles that contract and contribute to wrinkles.

How long does the procedure take?

This simple non-surgical procedure, depending on the area to be treated, takes approximately 30 minutes and then allows you to return to your usual daily activities immediately.

How long does it last?

There is variation between individuals but the effects usually last 3-6 months.

When will I notice the effects?

2-3 days after treatment you will start to notice changes but the full effect may take up to 14 days.

How many treatments will I need?

You may need to have top up injections every 4-6months to maintain the desired effect. Clinical studies have shown that the duration of treatment benefit increases with time, meaning you should require injections less frequently in the future.

Is it safe?

The treatments have been carried out for more than 10years. Any side effects are temporary and localised to the injection site.

Are there any side effects?

Immediately after the injections there will be mild swelling, redness and bruising in the treated area which usually subsides within a few days.

In rare cases a reversible condition called ptosis or drooping of the eyelid may occur.
