2015- A New Year’s Resolution for a Healthy Smile!
Setting goals to achieve a healthier lifestyle may be on the agenda for many of us this New Year, Why not make your resolution improving your dental health?
Here are Roseacre’s four resolutions for a healthy smile:
 Maintain a healthy diet
Eating a balanced healthy diet is important for your dental health.  The immune system can be affected by a poor diet leading to risks of gum disease and other oral disorders.
Brush every surface of every tooth every day!
Brushing for 2 minutes twice per day and using interdental cleaning aids such as floss or brushes removes the harmful bacteria in plaque that gathers every day.  This will reduce the risk of decay and gum disease and keep your mouth fresh and healthy.
There are many studies that suggest a link between poor oral health and other health problems such as:
- Heart disease
 - Gum disease
 - Diabetes
 - Arthritis
 - Alzheimers
 - Lung disease
 - Cancer

Quit smoking and Alcohol
Staining, cavities, gum disease and risk of cancer are just a few of the harmful risks of smoking and alcohol.  If you can stop smoking and drinking alcohol it would improve your oral and general health and reduce the risk of tooth loss.
Visit your Dentist and Hygienist regularly
Keep your routine visits with your dentist and hygienist so that any dental problems can be caught early.  Regular attenders are much less likely to need extensive courses of treatment.
